Life Cycle

I had to go to a funeral of a good friend's husband this week.  It puts life into perspective, how fragile it is, how we should go for the gusto every single minute and how we should let the people we care about know it every single day.

This was a reading from his service.

Birth is a beginning and death a destination.
And life is the journey.
From childhood to maturity and youth to age;
From innocence to awareness and ignorance to knowing;
From foolishness to desecration and then perhaps to wisdom.
From weakness to strength to weakness and often back again.
From health to sickness and we pray to health again.
From offense to forgiveness
From loneliness to love
From joy to gratitude
From pain to compassion
From grief to understanding
From fear to faith
From defeat to defeat to defeat until looking backwards or forwards we see that
Victory lies not at some high point along the way
But in having made the journey; step by step, a sacred pilgrimage.
Birth is a beginning and death a destination.
And life is the journey;
A sacred journey to life everlasting.

We should celebrate this wonderful life we have been given, to go through the day with joy and make our journey all it can be.
