A simple welcome at the front door.
Today's blog post title is "Crazy for Christmas". That is the way I feel this week. It's been so long since I've decorated, I cleaned out my stash of ornaments, etc. (see previous blog post). What I didn't realize is how long it would take. Every ornament I own has been dusted, repaired and otherwise had a thorough going over. Most people would do this annually (take it from me, that's a good idea). But since I haven't had my Christmas stuff out so long, my tastes have changed, my stuff looks tired and in general, I have found with Christmas decorating, as in a lot of things in life, less is more.
Cutting back from 5 Christmas trees to 1. Much more manageable!
So, I have tamed the wild beast and gone from 12 large Rubbermaid containers of decorations to about 5! That's pretty good, right?
On my sideboard, I have candles and angels. One angel is an 16th birthday gift from my Aunt Lucy.
I couldn't get rid of this Advent calendar I hand stitched for my boys in 1983. Maybe someday my grand kids will be able to pull candy or money from this!
Add a little Christmas music and voila, you are good to go!
A little vignette on my kitchen counter..a crystal apple from the Big Apple on my 30th birthday and a snow globe snowman.
