This Great Country

Have you ever heard of the term "Midwestern Nice?" It is used for other areas, Minnesota Nice, etc.  I have lived in other areas of the country and visited many others. People in New York, people in Washington, DC, people in Arizona, all have a kindness of the human spirit. But my heart was touched today when I read the Minot Daily News.

Read my blog post last week about the devastation of the flood of Minot, ND. Over 12,000 people were evacuated. Many people lost their homes, their businesses and their livelihood. It is complete chaos for some.  However, the human spirit (and Midwestern Nice) prevails. Today the headlines read:

"FEMA is given a North Dakota welcome! " It reads how locals welcomed "the Feds" with water and places to stay, kindness and willingness to help them get settled in, to make their job easier.

Then there was this...
"Have you given a polite wave or a verbal compliment to a trucker, Guardsman, law enforcement officer or any others on the job battling the Souris River flood?"
It encouraged the locals to give thanks to those volunteers helping with the flood.
Wow! Makes you think how you can pay a kindness to a stranger, doesn't it? Kudos to all the North Dakotans.  By the way, if you want to help, give to the local Minot Red Cross.
Remember, random acts of kindness today.....
