Happy 85th

Today is the day.  The Queen Mum is 85; bless her little pea-pickin' heart! I talked with her today.  We bought her a cell phone for her 85th; just incase her battery dies when she's on her scooter.  Lord knows she puts the miles on that thing.  We will probably have to get her AAA next for the dad-gum thing!

But nothing slows her down.  Here is her latest. She claims if you take10 gin soaked raisins a day, you won't have arthritis pain. Mom has been a tea totaller for years, but we figured she was going off the wagon and this was just an excuse.  Then, wouldn't you know it?  The news is this is an old wive's tale that could actually have some factual basis.  (Note to self, once again....ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER!) It is amazing- and a little aggravating- that she is generally correct!

Here's the recipe:

Gin Soaked Raisins for Arthritis Relief
1 box of golden raisins
1 pint of gin

Pour raisins in a container that has a lid and can be sealed tight.
Pour gin over them and stir to coat.
Seal and refrigerate one week.
East 10 raisins/day.
