National Dog Biscuit Day

Time to celebrate! Get out the mixing bowls and make Fido a treat.  Yes, my friends, it's National Dog Biscuit Day!

I know you've been waiting for this day to arrive all year long.

Dog Biscuits
1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/4 cup corn meal
1 1/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup butter
1 cup water
1/2 cup chopped parsley
1/2 cup chopped mint
1/4 cup chopped carrots
1 egg

Mix ingredients in food processor. Blend dry ingredients with cut-up butter pieces.  Pulse butter into mixture till dough is in one mass. Pulse in parsley, mint and carrots. Make into 2 balls. Freeze one ball for later use. Roll ball with rolling pin to 1/4 inch. Cut as many dog biscuits as you can get.  Turn onto greased cookie sheet and paint with beaten egg using your pastry brush. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes or until tops turn golden brown. Turn oven off and leave in warm oven overnight to dry.

Get your doggie cookie cutters here. They have an assortment of bones, paws, fire hydrants, dog houses and other humorous cutters.

You can make your dog even happier than he/she already is!  Is that possible??
