Calico Beans

Here comes March.  You know what that means in Arizona....winter visitors.  Our house is booked starting this week.  That means I cook---for real--this week!

I am trying to do a few things ahead so I can enjoy my houseguests.  I have this baked bean recipe that is so yummy.  It can be made ahead and baked right before the guests arrive.

Calico Beans
2 cans Bush's Baked Beans (or 1 large can)
1 can beans of any variety; white, butter, red kidney, etc.
8 slices of bacon
1 pound hamburger
1 small onion; diced
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon yellow mustard

Fry bacon to crisp.  Drain and dice.
Fry hamburger and drain.
Saute onions.

Mix together in big pot.
Pour in remaining ingredients and stir.

Bake, covered, for one hour at 200 degrees.  Can be prepared for up to 2 days before baking. Store covered and refrigerate.
