Child Discipline

My cousins, my siblings and myself were raised by similar parents. Most people might consider our parents on the strict side. My cousin sent me this article I thought I'd share.  There is some wisdom in it.

There is a growing drug problem in our country. The drugs are much more prevalent, used by younger children and are becoming more socially acceptable.

Here is is a different type of drug problem that perhaps should become the norm and more socially acceptable.

When I was young, I was drug to church every Sunday morning. I was drug to weddings and funerals. I was drug to family reunions and ccommunity events.

I was drug by my ears to apologize when I was disrespectful of adults. I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, lied, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or if I did not put forth my best effort in everything that was asked to do of me.

I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profanity. I was drug out to pull weeds in the yard. I was drug to family, friends and neighbors to help out when they needed it.

Those drugs are still in my veins and affect everything I do, say or think. Today's children need this kind of drug problem. God bless the parents who drugged us.
