Sweet Republic Ice Cream Shop

Man oh man, every once in awhile you happen onto a winner. We certainly did tonight! I have to give credit where credit is due. Foxtrot Freddie was on the internet today and learned of this place, "Sweet Republic, An Artisan Ice Cream Shop." It is voted one of the 10 Best Ice Cream Shops in the USA. Can you imagine, right here in Scottsdale, at a little non-descript strip mall?

This place is amazing! Not only do they have unbelievable good ice cream made with all natural, organic ingredients, but also fresh cookies, caramels, lollipops and the piece de resistance...Bacon Brittle. Yes, you read that right, it is crumbled bacon in the crunchy caramel brittle. According to the lady behind the counter, people come in to the shop to just buy a bag or two of Bacon Brittle and ship it to places around the world!

The various ice creams, besides the the tried and true Madagascar Vanilla, Peach (Peachy Keen), etc, were the custom "Blue Cheese and Medjool Date", "Strawberry Balsamic Peppercorn", Lime Basil" and the crowd favorite, "Salted Butter Caramel" to name a few of the many available. That flavors change as fresh ingredients become available.

The place is adorable, seating only 20 people. There are board games on shelves which many families were enjoying and free Wi-Fi. Sweet Republic was started by two female investment bankers from NYC. After 9/11, they reassessed their lives and armed with a family recipe for ice cream and relatives in Scottsdale, they embarked on this very successful business. Read about them here, in Bon Appetit! What a great asset in the neighborhood!
