The Season for Guests

It's an old Asian proverb that guests bring good luck with them.  I know that's how I feel.  I love to have friends or family visiting.  It's no bother at all, it's a joy to see new faces, to chat and learn more about their current lives, all of it.  I can't wait for my next houseguests.

First of all, I want to make my guests feel welcome. I try to put myself in their shoes, what do I like when I go visit someone?  I need a place to have some privacy.  While I do still work, I need a place to make  private phone call or just relax.  It is my M/O when I travel to "Go, See, Do", which means I never sit still.  So, if I feel like taking a power nap, it is nice to have a bed.

It's nice to have  place to stow luggage. Let's hope you don't have guests that stay long enough to require an entire dresser, but a luggage rack or a few extra hangers (and a little space) in the closet is most welcome.

A bottle of water on the nightstand. I am not one that drinks water at night, but many people do.

In the bathroom, one might want to stock an extra toothbrush, toothpaste and other toiletries that could come in handy.  I know I most often forget hairspray!  If you can afford an extra hair dryer in your guest bath, it sure saves the space in a carryon suticase for your guest not to have to pack one. Clean towels and bathroom glass are must.

Last but not least, if you feel so inclined to put in a recent magazine or quick read book, your guest might have difficulty falling asleep and that extra reading material may be just the ticket to nod off to dreamland.
