Food Photography

Food photography is SOOO much fun. When I was in New York doing a photo shoot for the cookie cookbook, I marveled at the creativity of the food photographer. There are certain tricks, like using instant mashed potatoes for ice cream (the ice cream would no doubt melt under the photography lights), or to show grill marks on steaks use a magic marker or a paint brush with Instant Bouquet.

Another kind of photography is particularly fun to do for children. That is to make food items come alive. Here are some photos by Collin Stewart. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

For the past two years I have had a Peeps Photo Contest. It was both a ton of fun and readers got some amazing prizes. This year I am opening it up for all food photographs. RULES:
1. You have until Saturday, April 3rd ,2010 to get your photo in to me. Email it to jenesgems@gmail.com. The photo becomes my property. That is, if I want to publish it, you can't come after me in any way, shape or form. Thirdly, the winner will get a PRIZE announced Easter Day, April 4, 2010.

Cookbook? I have missed a great deal, obviously, by not keeping up with your blog. You are truly the nice Martha Stewart. peggy
