It is that time of year, when cabin fever takes over. The stress of everyday life combined with the dreariness of winter makes the human psyche want to "wig out." How can you improve your day?
* Listen to slow music-or "spa" music. It can actually lower your heart rate.
* If you are addicted to your phone, set an alarm and turn your phone off for 10 minutes. That way when the alarm rings, you'll remember to turn your phone back on and not fret when it's off.
* Burn a scented candle. Buy a candle that reminds you of something pleasant, lavender, fresh linen, or apples.
* Laugh; remember that old saying, "Laughter is the best medicine?" It is!
* Walk! Get some exercise. It doesn't have to be a long walk. Exercising releases endorphins, which will improve your overall mood.
* Loosen up. Put on some comfy clothes, grab a book and curl up. Divert your attention to your stressful life.
* Go to a movie. If you are particularly stressed, escaping to a movie for just a couple of hours can change your whole attitude.
*Phone a friend. Even a 5 minute phone call can make a difference in your attitude.
* Turn on a favorite song and swing to the music.
* Chocolate always helps!
* Hold hands with you loved one.
* Call on Divine help. Daily prayer increases people's gratitude. People who count their blessings lead happier lives.
* Think optimistic thoughts. People who think and talk poistively lead more fulfilling and longer lives than their negative counterparts.
