High Tea

I went to a delightful High Tea at a local upscale home store. Marketing-wise, what a great way to get people into the store. The surroundings were magnificent with gracious, glorious furniture, jaw-dropping beautiful accessories, the sun streaming through the oversized windows making everything glisten and sparkle...oh, but I get carried away. The High Tea was so much fun!
Notice the gorgeous china, it is patterned after the Empress Hotel High Tea china at the Fairmont Princess in Victoria, BC, an event you shouldn't miss if you get to that area of the world. Yes, you see correctly, champagne; mid-afternoon, how decadent!
The sandwiches were outstanding, cream cheese on on a cucumber, smoked salmon, egg salad and chicken-cranberry salad, on unique breads and garnished to make them such a beautiful treasure on the plate. Before this course was a shrimp bisque with a hint of sherry, oops, forgot to photograph that before I sipped the velvety, yummy texture.

Scones were prepared and served hot from the oven by our gracious and charming host, Alphonso. He was a personable fellow that took great pride in his profession, a caterer. Can you see the clotted cream, lemon curd and raspberry jam were served in edible chocolate cups? It was almost too pretty to eat. Not!

What a great way to spend a sunny afternoon....
