Georgia O'Keefe Museum

Georgia O'Keefe (1887-1986) has long been a favorite of mine. Her images of flowers and the desert southwest have captured the magnificent beauty of nature at it's finest. She grew up in Wisconsin and studied art. She felt stunted as in her day, her instructors wanted her to reproduce images that were all ready painted. She then met Alfred Steingletz from New York. He encouraged her to be her own person in her art. She moved there and painted street images of New York. They fell in love and were married until his death in 1949. She moved to Santa Fe and painted until her death in 1986. Santa Fe has a very understated but beautiful museum in her honor. I loved every minute of looking at such beautiful paintings. I wanted to buy one of everything (but didn't).
