Minnesota State Fair

The Minnesota State Fair is the second largest fair in the USA, with an attendance of over 2 million people. Off I ventured today at 7 a.m. I hear there are crushing crowds and I want to get in early. After driving and losing my way a few times, I was in front of the grand entrance. The line of cars for the parking lot was about three blocks long. I moved onto the side streets where the locals were renting out their lawns for anywhere from $10-$25 for parking.
Standing on the corner I saw this lovely older woman waving her "Park Here" sign. She had me, I had to park at her house, no matter what the charge.
After paying my fee (I lucked out and she charged $10) she told me her story. Her name is Edith, she is 85 years old. She and her husband have parked cars in their yard for 49 years; well he did it until he died 18 years ago, and now she's continued because she enjoys meeting the people. Then she invited me into her home for coffee. After a quick cup I was off to the fair, but I am thinking the fair will have to be pretty fabulous to beat Edith.
