Baby Gift

It seems all of my friends are having children or grandchildren. It is so much fun to see these new little faces come into the world. I love these itty bittys and would have had more children had mine not made a habit of coming into this world at nearly 12 pounds each. But that doesn't stop me from oogling over the newbies coming along. I try to send everyone a little something. This is my "stock" baby gift, I make in different colors and patterns.
I received a blanket like this for my first born. It was homemade. He loved it and I loved it. It was large, easy to wash and he was so cozy when he was all snuggled up in it. I make it now out of 2-45 inch pieces of coordinating fabric, ric-rac around the edge, and tie it with yarn about every 6 inches to secure the batting in the middle.
The burp cloths are fun and quick to make. Take the pre-fold diaper and sew some fun ribbon along the two seams. Voila! You're done!
The real piece-de-resistance is Sophie the Giraffe. This was by far the most popular teether of all the babies. Then it disappeared from the market for years. It recently reappeared, but is hard to find. I found this on eBay, however I now know Creative Kidstuff in Minneapolis sells it. It is soft, easy to teethe on and fun to grasp for the baby.
