I But a Mere Mortal

From time-to-time we are reminded we are but mere mortals and contrary to our everyday thought process, will most likely not live forever. How do you want to be remembered? I have limited knowledge of the whole funeral thing, thank God. However, I know I want to be remembered as a kind, compassionate, yet feisty character. Perhaps a bit like dear, ole' Grandma who was 84 when she passed, with a brand, spankin' new black hair dye job!
I'm thinking I want to be buried in my ankle length sable mink coat and my UGG slippers. No apologies for buying that mink. If you knew how comfortable it was, you'd have 6 of them. So, since I'll be there for who knows how long, I might as well be cozy. Oh, and don't forget a few baubles that I've collected over the years. I may need some bargaining chips along the way!
Next on the agenda is my eulogy. I think both of my sons should give it. Why do I feel it will be more of a roast? In any case, if I have my 2 cents...Here lies, Lola, give here a Starbucks and she's happy. We'll miss her biting (private family joke) and croaking out her favorite tunes. When she passed she was surrounded by her cut-up kids razzing her until the very end. Her beloved husband, Foxtrot Freddie, danced her into the sunset. In lieu of flowers, she requests ya' all go to the mall and have a shopping frenzy and one huge dirty martini (with three olives) in her honor. Then wheel me out to the tune of "On the Sunny Side of The Street".
On The Sunny Side of the Street
(Click #2 on the Playlist)
Grab your coat and don't forget your hat
Leave your worries on the doorstep,
Life can be so sweet
On the sunny side of the street.

Can't you hear the pitter-pat
And that happy tune is your step,
Life can be complete
On the sunny side of the street.

I used to walk in the shade with my blues on parade
But I'm not afraid...this rover's crossed over.

Now if I'd never made one cent
I'd still be rich as Rockefeller
There will be gold dust at my feet
On the sunny side of the street.

Ahhh...what a way to go. BTW, I don't plan on needing this directive anytime soon~
