Lucky Duck Derby

WOW! What a fun day. I participated in the Arizona Children's Fundraiser called the "Lucky Ducky Derby". They dumped 40,000 rubber duckies in the Scottsdale canal and watched them race down. The winner becomes $10,000 richer! The children's charities become richer too-Yea!

Duck prints went for blocks showing you the way. What would a children's event be without face painting? The music rocked, bands, radio stations and a creative "duckerating" contest. The kids had their own "Ducky Derby" in every fountain in sight. This poor guy was NOT a Lucky Duck~~it's 108 degrees! However he was the most popular character on the block. The Scottsdale mayor, Jim Lane, couldn't resist the photo op. Yup, that's a babe in arms as he pulled the lever to release the ducks.

So, how do you corral 40,000 racing ducks? Net them, of course!
What a great way to spend a weekend afternoon!
