Believe in Santa Claus??

Do you believe in Santa Claus? I do. On the practical side, shouldn't everybody believe in Santa Claus? I mean, if you do, you wake up Christmas morning and have gifts nobody else can afford and a stocking filled with trinkets and treasures nobody else thought to give you. I think it's a fool that doesn't believe in Santa Claus!
On the magical side, it's a spirit of giving and compassion for those who are less fortunate. We give anonymously to many causes this time of year, aren't we all "Santas?" It's seeing in children's eyes the wonder of that magical "fairy" figure, the jolly laugh and the idea there may be 8 (or 9) reindeer pulling a sleigh filled with toys and goodies. What a picture!
Then there's the parent's view. "You better watch out, you better not cry...". During this hectic time of year, when bedtime rules are stretched and mealtime is out of whack with sugary candy and cookies, this little bribe, ah, excuse me, motivation has been used by many a parent, including yours truly, to keep the munchkins in line those last few days before Christmas.
What fun we have believing in that "jolly old elf", Santa Claus! Borrowing the words of Clement Moore, "as he rode out of sight, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night."
